Package: ipmitool
Version: 1.8.11-1
Severity: wishlist

Although it renders -I lan useless for me, I still think 'wishlist' is the
right priority.

We have eServer 325 beasts from IBM. I am new to IPMI, thus spent half a day
trying to figure my way around, but could not manage to make connection via -I
lan, unless I disable authentication at all (which is not good).

Then again I checked internet and found in the docs of freeipmi

http://sid.ethz.ch/debian/freeipmi/freeipmi-0.7.2/doc/freeipmi-bugs-and-workarounds.txt

IBM eServer 325: The remote BMC will advertise that Per Message
Authentication is disabled, but actually require it for the protocol.
Resolved with a workaround to force Per Message Authentication to be
used no matter what is advertised by the remote BMC.

It seems to be the case of mine ;) I guess adding an option to enforce per
message authentication should help -- I could not find a way to set it in the
configs of BMC.

Thanks in advance
