Hmm, on a failed install of all needed build deps, the patched sbuild still takes time (can be a lot for big pacakage builds) to purge any installed packages (while --purge=never & --purge-deps=never is in effect):

         texlive-latex-base
         texlive-latex-recommended
        E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
        apt-get failed.

Maybe there's one more routine for the new flags to be wedged into?
