This is the information the initial bug report should have included! The information in initial report must be fictional. There is nothing here to suggest insserv related problems. Possibly something in /etc/network/if-*/ is calling invoke-rc.d, and this can happen at shutdown/reboot time when networking service is stopped. Kel.
