No such file.
Purging x11-common then installing x11-common did the trick.
Now ~/.Xdefaults is ignored. 'mv ~/.Xdefaults ~/.Xresources' seems
superficially to work, is that sufficient? Can you please point me
toward what I should know about using ~/.Xresources? (My
~/.Xresources has 110 non-comment lines.)
As far as I can see gnome-session is working fin for me now.
