I do not think that any other DD are dying to take it (they probably would have by now if they were). So go ahead and take it. You can get a sponsor via http://mentors.debian.net/, once you have build the package. Sadly I am not a DD myself, so I cannot become your sponsor; however if you need help, I can try.
