Package: distcc Version: 2.18.3-2 Severity: normal AFAIR distcc does neither create the /etc/distcc nor the config file "hosts" in the same dir by installing distcc. Allthough this is not really a bug, it's quite disturbing for the average user and in my opinion not standard.
I suggest to create /etc/distcc/hosts on install and add add some commented-out lines in this configfile to explain how to use this file. I know all these infos can be found in the manpage, but this way is more intuitive and the user can expect/be shure, that this config-file will actually be evaluated by distcc. kind regards Bastian -- Package-specific info: -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.12.2-laptop Locale: [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] (charmap=ISO-8859-15) Versions of packages distcc depends on: ii adduser 3.64 Add and remove users and groups ii debconf 1.4.51 Debian configuration management sy ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-22 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libpopt0 1.7-5 lib for parsing cmdline parameters ii netbase 4.21 Basic TCP/IP networking system distcc recommends no packages. -- debconf information excluded -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
