Hi! * Karl Goetz <k...@kgoetz.id.au> [2008-09-28 01:10:45 CEST]: > It is possible that the Debian project does not have permission to > modify mmv from all copyright holders.
Things like that are always possible, in every piece of software. It's just that we usually listen to specific reasons and not something that might or might not be possible without any prove. > According to [1], Vladimir (original author) has changed the "... > copyright of mmv to GPL." Yes. > In the same email he says " Please keep in mind that I do not have in > hand either the full GPL text or the source code of the last mmv > release (oops)." This statement makes it sound like there may be other > copyright holders who may need to authorise the relicencing as well. From what I know the original source was Valdimir's and I don't have much doubt in that. The possible other copyright holders that I am aware of are those who did submit and get incorporated patches into the Debian package and at that point to the best of my knowledge it was already under GPL. If you really believe otherwise pretty please offer specific reasons and not only hypothetical ones. I think about closing this bugreport in the near future and guess you won't reject to that seriously. Again, if you do so it's your proper right but pretty please, give specific reasons to do so. :) So long, and thanks for your concerns!
