You get a 550 because that's not a valid To: header. Whatever MUA you're using is broken and is using an RFC1522 UTF-8 encoding for things that don't need to be encoded, and then failing to put the encoded bit in quotes to protect it from being parsed as an address. > (Why the encoding?
