They would be, if the hardware is sane.  Would I be right in guessing
you have a RAID 1 setup?  If so, I'm guessing that the two mirrors of
your data are not in sync with one another, so depending on which disk
the MD driver happens to select to read from, you are getting
different results.

Have you tried checking to make sure the contents of your two RAID 1
disks are identical?
