So I guess the currently running bluetooth-applet is the one from bluez-gnome,
can you confirm this? Which bluez-gnome version?

It is indeed reported by obex-data-server via dbus, though it is
bluetooth-applet which is supplying ods with an invalid path so the problem is
there.
