Package: abcde Version: 2.3.99.6-1 Severity: normal the mp3 files written by abcde contain ID3 v2.3 tags with the encoding set to latin_1, but the text is encoded in UTF-8. This leads to incorrectly encoded text with software which behaves according to the specification.
ID3 v2.3 allows only latin-1 and UTF-16. UTF-8 is only supported by ID3 v2.4. However, the id3v2 tool used by abcde only supports ID3 v2.3, so UTF-8 is just wrong. -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.30-rc7 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=de_DE.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages abcde depends on: ii cd-discid 0.9-1 CDDB DiscID utility ii cdparanoia 3.10.2+debian-5 audio extraction tool for sampling ii lame 3.98.2-0.4 LAME Ain't an MP3 Encoder ii vorbis-tools 1.2.0-6 several Ogg Vorbis tools ii wget 1.11.4-2 retrieves files from the web abcde recommends no packages.
