severity 527846 wishlist tags 527846 wontfix thanks Hi Francesco, as the discussion in this bug report diverted a bit I want to refocus again on the initial request to provide a sysv init script.
1.) That's a wishlist bug and as consolekit is a dbus activated system daemon that is not started by sysv, I tag it as wontfix (as I don't intend to add a sysv init script). Simple reason is, that it will only add confusion, as you then would have separate ways to start the daemon. Don't want to do that. 2.) Second, separate issue, is that console-kit-daemon does not preserve state during restarts. As said, that's a different issue and should probably filed as a separate bug report. 3.) Third and separate issue, is that console-kit-daemon is currently not automatically restarted on every upgrade. This should probably also be filed as a separate issue and is mainly blocked by 2.). In case of security related upgrade though, I'd add a "kill $(cat /var/run/console-kit-daemon.pid)" to postinst, so you don't have to worry to have a console-kit-daemon running with security holes.
