Package: lyx Version: 1.3.4-2 Severity: normal
Hi. I was just checking out lyx again after a long time. When I found the setting for the temp folder to point to /tmp I changed it to /home/<username>/.tmp, my default folder for temp stuff. When I saved this, the text in my test document had suddenly and inexplicably changed from Times to some weird italics font. So I exited lyx and deleted the whole ~/.lyx folder and tried again. I found, that starting from scratch changing (and saving) the setting of the temp folder causes the ~/.lyx/preferences file to be written -- with the weird font set as screen default for roman and sans fonts: ---8<------------------------------------------ # # SCREEN & FONTS SECTION ############################ # \screen_font_roman "Abberancy" \screen_font_sans "Abberancy" \screen_font_typewriter "Courier" ---8<------------------------------------------ This is certainly not good: an unexpected configuration change that badly affects readability on the screen. "Abberancy" happens to be the first font in the alphabetical list of installed fonts, while Courier apparently is the first monospace font in the list. After my opinion the default fonts should not be changed unless the user explicitly requires it. And the default fonts should be a reasonable choice. In fact, I could not find the fonts that were originally used -- which ones are they?
