Hi,
jikes is orphaned, unmaintained, and buggy and therefore we are trying
to remove it from the archive. gettext currently
build-depends on jikes-classpath. Could you please try to build with one of
the other java compilers and remove the jikes-classpath build-depends?
Hmm, is it unmaintained/orphaned upstream? Stopping using jikes-classpath
would be a pity, as it was available in a lot of architectures (the other
java compilers didn't have this property when I decided to use jikes).
Currently, what are the other java compilers?
Or is there only one that I should consider? (openjdk)
Santiago,
I can't speak for upstream but there hasn't been a release since 2004.
Both openjdk-6 and gcj are available on almost all archs except hppa
now. I've been having some pretty good luck with openjdk-6 on most of
the other packages I've tested it with.
Thanks,
Barry deFreese
