Hi Riku, thanks for your contribution, I think that on this matter there are many different views and it would be great to find something that we can propose at the mutt devs as debian community telling them why we would like a different default param for send_charset and what actual figures are sustaining our opinions.
Unfortunately from what I see there is no consensus in the debian community about what we should propose and I can't think of anything that could provide us with figures referred to a larger sample (i.e.: not only @d.org mailing lists). Given the bug is forwarded I think that the discussions should be done with the mutt devs on the forwarded bug, IMHO the final decision on the default charset should be done by them but I'm open to listen to different opinions about why we should stray from their default and what advantages could this bring to us.
