Possibly, FWIW, my laptop is a Dell Mini 9 and it works ok there.

Not unless it's on by factory default.

This machine clearly has a USB keyboard.

FWIW, Jeff Strunk for some reason decided to add /dev/input/event*
support to sleepd today and is in the process of preparing a patch
for that.
