I'm the user who mentioned xterm.  I have no use for gnome-terminal and
Vera.  If it were only gnome-terminal having the problem, I'd just chalk it
up to more shoddy Gnome code. :)

Multiple fonts, with multiple X clients... the only thing changing is
libfreetype6... it would seem to be plain that something that changed
between 2.1.7 and 2.1.9 is what's causing it.
