Agreed.

Right. I wrote a patch to enable logging to syslog in the default
configuration. At the same time I would then disable logging to a file
which is by default in /var/lib/squirrelmail/data which is definitely
not Debian standard.
Sorry for not noticing before.

My plan as a reasonable default is now:

login, logout and timeout with priority LOG_INFO;
login_error and error with priority LOG_WARNING;
mass_mailing with priority LOG_ALERT

Would that be okay for you?
