*** Please type your report below this line *** make-kpkg doesn't buidl initrd file for /boot directory. When I compiled 2.6.29.1 kernel it run perfectly. Since, the initrd is not built. I used the following command-line make-kpkg --rootcmd fakeroot --initrd --append-to-version=.`date +%y%m%d` --revision=2.6.29.3 kernel-image So after installing the package, I see thant initrd-2.6.29.3 isn't installed and system refuses to load : Kernel panic - not syncing : vfs : unable to mount root fs on unknown block (0,0).
