Hi, There's already a note about it in userdel.c (user_busy), but I think it is time to remove the check based on utmp, and check if there are processes or tasks in /proc whose real, effective, or saved ID is the user's ID (ditto if the group is meant to be removed).
In the mean time, I could also check if the process mentioned in the utmp entry is still running. Or just recommend to use -f.
