Ah sorry... I now understand this have_route_to(0) ... if there is a route to 0.0.0.0 this is 'almost' certainly because there is a default route defined.
Seems to conclude that if there is a default route defined, that means I can join with it the remote peer (not obvious to me but that's a possibility). So this not here that for me auth_required = 1; was defined.
