Hi Gerd, hi Simo! I noticed of a similar behavior of xawtv on my system, but it differs.
It starts everytime in mono. After changing this to stereo in option dialog,
it will be turned back to mono if I mute/unmute or change volume level.
Despite this, the dialog still shows stereo. I have to set stereo again to get
it.
Loading msp3400.ko with option "opmode=1" doesn`t help and is not described in
modinfo.
BTW, stereo is much louder than mono.
