Thanks for the hint. Yes, my main laptop is running Intel hardware (X calls this "Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller rev 7"). However, I've also seen the same type of corruption on a desktop (nVidia running a recent git nouveau drivers) and on another (old) laptop (ATI Radeon Mobility [something]). So, I'm surprised that a hardware driver update fixed the problem (you're sure none of the X client libraries or server-side components were also updated, right?). I'm running 2.6.29 kernel on these machines, so perhaps it might be fallout from this mode-switching support in the kernel (although that's wild speculation). Anyway, I'm currently on a business trip so I'd rather not fiddle too much as I need the laptop to be functional (albeit, with a slightly annoying problem). I'll try to look into the upgrade when I'm back. Cheers, Paul. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
