Package: kde-minimal
Version: 5:50
Severity: wishlist

I've noticed that the battery widget in KDE 4 that sits in the taskbar misleads
the users about when a battery is still being charged or not.

Take this example with how 'kpowersave' from KDE 3.5 had more user friendly
behaviour:
When running on battery, you got a battery icon.
When running on AC and not charging, you got the plug icon.
When running on AC and charing, you got the plug icon with an elecriticy symbol.

This was all VERY clear to the enduser what was going on with their battery.
For mosts laptops it was ideal behaviour because once your battery was no
longer charging and the machine running on just AC, that was system feedback
that most people needed.

Compare this to the behaviour of the revised widget:
When running on battery, you get a battery icon.
When running on AC and no charging, you get the battery icon with an
electricity symbol.
When running on AC and charging, you get the battery icon with an electricity
symbol.

I heartly suggest rethinking this widget. It is better that kpowersave in many
ways but it's essential role, reporting accurate power information for
batteries and states, appears to have not been thought through.
