After fix of #524169 the following problem has been introduced: $ sudo /usr/sbin/apticron /usr/sbin/apticron: line 240: /usr/bin/bsd-mailx: No such file or directory I think that heirloom-mailx should be placed into Conflicts section in debian/control file and fix of #524169 should be rolled back. Other possible fix is adding MAIL_COMMAND option to configuration file.
