When all up to date:
# apt-file update|wc
6 18 344
# apt-file update -N|wc
0 0 0
The man page at -N should also say that it turns off reporting.
Better yet, establish a new option to do that.
# apt-file update </dev/null|wc
0 0 0
This is broken. Have the user use the above if they don't want reporting.
P.S.,
$ dlocate -man apt-file
1 diffindex-download
1 diffindex-rred
1 apt-file
The latter doesn't mention the two former in SEE ALSO. Hope not intentional.
