This is a known issue in GTK+, fixed in 2.14. This happens when a remote CUPS server is unreachable. I guess it is possible to backport the patch to lenny, but it is a bit intrusive: http://git.gnome.org/cgit/gtk+/commit/?id=e9d978dff9f9b18eaac6c4920fb5abf7245d839d If you can test the patch against 2.12 first, maybe we can ask the stable release managers whether this is appropriate.
