Hi! I'm yet another user running into this eap bug. For what it's worth, I think this bug can easily be fixed by adding "--with-pic" to the configure statement in debian/rules.
I think adding this only on amd64 should prevent any bad effects on other archs. Could you please release an updated package for unstable including this fix?
