Hi,

1) Seems to happen with any command - unrelated to whether gconfd-2 is
running or not:

$ python -c 'import os;os.popen("echo >/dev/null").readlines()'
close failed: [Errno 9] Bad file descriptor
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "<string>", line 1, in <module>
IOError: [Errno 9] Bad file descriptor

2) For me, and all reporters I found, only happens in a 32 bit chroot on
an amd64 kernel (2.6.26-1-amd64 here).

   thanks,
        Amit
