Ok, could you then please comment out all interface configurations in /e/n/i (besides lo), kill nm-system-settings and NetworkManager, start "NetworkManager --no-daemon" and preferably also use network-manager-gnome (nm-applet), as I have no idea how mature the KDE4 applet is already.
