Package: grub-efi Version: 1.96+20080724-16 Severity: wishlist hi,
grub-efi , in combination with rEFIt , may be used to boot an Apple MacBook in "native" way, as to say (that is w/o using a BIOS compatibility mode). Depending on the MacBook model, though, grub-efi should be compiled as a 32bit or a 64bit executable; for example, the MacBook5,1 (the "aluminium") needs a 64bit grub-efi This is independent on the architecture of Debian that is installed. So if someone install Debian Lenny i386 on a MacBook which uses EFI 64bit, then the package grub-efi will not work: rEFIt fails to load grub-efi, with error Unsupported while loading grub.efi So it would be advisable to provide a package grub-efi-64 to ship inside Debian i386 a. -- System Information: Debian Release: 5.0.1 APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-2-686 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=it_IT.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=it_IT.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash -- Andrea Mennucc "E' un mondo difficile.
