Package: amarok
Version: 1.4.10-2
Severity: normal

This problem might corrupt data on the iPod, and so might warrant
higher severity. On the other hand, most people don't seem to be
having a problem.

When I hit disconnect for a USB mounted iPod nano 3G (green) amarok
indicates the device is disconnected. However, the iPod screen shows
it is still connected and should not be disconnected.

My config shows a post command of kdeeject.

This is probably a problem somewhere down the stack, but I don't know
where. gtkpod had similar issues. I finally issued eject /dev/sdc1
and eject /dev/sdc as root, and this worked (i.e., the ipod said it
was OK to disconnect).

It may also be a problem that /dev/sdc1 is mounted but /dev/sdc needs
to be ejected. The macro expansion in the config (the argument to
kdeeject) might be picking the wrong one.

I also had this problem at least a year ago with a first generation
iPod.

There are other Debian bugs about similar problems, attributed
variously to the kernel, udev, and eject, but they have all been
closed as fixed. I'm running lenny. One of the bugs has a mention of
making eject suid root, which is consistent with my results.

I was tracking testing; maybe I have some old udev rules left over
that are causing trouble?

I was running under Lenny KDE (3.5).
