backuppc defaults to the ambiguous US date format, in the config.pl we have
$Conf{CgiDateFormatMMDD} = '1';
it should default to the ISO8601 date format (CCYY-MM-DD), using the parameter
$Conf{CgiDateFormatMMDD} = '2';
the US date format is very ambiguous for the rest of the world, and forcing the
US installs to the no-US date format might be confusing to the US people, so
the best soluction is to be neutral, the ISO format is not ambiguous in
any form and easy to read.
people that dont like the longer date format can still change to the smaller
format and hand tune if they want US or non-US date format
one alternative would be the use of the locale setting, but that might require
many changes and simply changing the default CgiDateFormatMMDD value is very
simple.
