This I don't understand. Are my "patches" included now? > The original report has been opened in 2002 and is not reproducible with > current build toolchain in Lenny and over. > There is also a more generic bug about compiling problems with xmovie. > Bug is #436173 and applies to all architectures (i386/amd64 included). xmovie include(ed?) special code for the alpha platform, so back then I needed only the minor "patches" to use them. I do not remember seeing special code for other architectures (special codes implies that upstream at one point cared about this architecture). > To my eyes, xmovie is old and buggy, has not given a new major > release since many years (7 or more) and we have better > alternatives, like mplayer, so there is no need of xmovie any more. Well, I do not used alpha as my primary machine anymore, but up to around 2004 (I guess) I had a certain mov file which did not play with mplayer but only with xmovie[1]. But I guess this is a rare exception, maybe fixed nowadays. If you want, I can provide you with this file off-bug. The rather more problematic issue is that the maintainer is mostly MIA. Greetings Helge [1] It plays fine on amd64 with mplayer, hence I don't care anymore. P.S. It would be nice if you CC: me when working on "my" bugs as the BTS does not forward mails to the submitter and I rarely look into these old bugs nowadays myself unless there is a compelling reason to do so. -- Dr. Helge Kreutzmann deb...@helgefjell.de Dipl.-Phys. http://www.helgefjell.de/debian.php 64bit GNU powered gpg signed mail preferred Help keep free software "libre": http://www.ffii.de/
