It seems you are right. I have seen recently that if gnome-keyring is killed later is started and gets into the same endless loop. This might be very much due to the fact that I don't have a password for the keyring and the interface assumes it can't unlock the thing. > My guess is that the gnome session is not correctly started. > What makes you think this is a problem in network-manager (nm-applet)?
