hi, just adding the USER to the init script didn't fix it for me, so I additionally trusted all ip4 connections from the local address. fortunately PGSQL is only used for openerp on this machine, if its a shared server I wouldn't do this. It probably just a password issue or something else simple but that's how i got it to work for me.
