        Sure. But it has always  been run before everything else, and I
 wonder if there might not be use cases where you want things to be done
 early. One can't have the defaults suit everyone ...

        Having said that, I might change all the hook scripts to run
 afterwards,  but that means changing al the maintainer scripts.
