OK, so 2.24 seems improved. Which code change done that? Could that please be added to the changelog, cross-referenced to this bug? Are those times for flushed ($|=1) or unflushed ($|=0) output: do you see a significant difference between those, and can that difference be reasonably explained? Could the X server be improved (though that is "not this bug")?
