The recompilation trick worked fine for a while, but now I seem to be back at square one with the same exact error showing up again, and this time, I cannot get out of it. Now, not even recompiling apt solves the problem. Help! (P.S. I know one thing for sure. The applications in the /usr/lib/apt/methods directory segfault even before the execution reaches the 'int main(...)' function.)
