Ok, but the message you are printing looks like a line from a log file, not
a response to a request for status.  Here is the output of "service
--status-all" (excluding scripts that don't support status):

dbus: dbus is running.
exim4: checking separate queue runner daemon...done (not running).
checking combined SMTP listener and queue runner daemon...done (not running).
hal: hald is running.
nfs-common: all daemons running
postgresql-8.3: 8.3     main      5432 online postgres 
/var/lib/postgresql/8.3/main       /var/log/postgresql/postgresql-8.3-main.log
privoxy: Status of filtering proxy server: privoxy is running.
ssh: sshd is running.


The only word in the postgresql response that makes sense here is "online".
