Maybe a facility to use "git diff --patience" output would help.

>From time to time I find myself using diff --patience / apply to do
the work of git add -p by hand, so I know I at least would find it
useful. But I'm not very comfortable at designing user interfaces (for
other people :), so I would appreciate any ideas about how the UI
should work.
