Hi, I am facing the same problem when trying to load videos that require
ffmpeg libraries. This is what I get from the console:

##########################################################
Compiled with Python version 2.5.4.
Checking for installed Python... got it!
Sorry, audio file has too many channels. Will fix in future, but
resampler doesn't support this.
ffmpeg has changed alloc scheme ... ARGHHH!
not an anim; /home/thveillon/Video/big_buck_bunny_1080p_h264.mov
###########################################################

In the gui I get an error message relative to ffmpeg not being installed
or not being compiled in.

I tried with this movie because it is known to work, and was before last
blender and ffmpeg update, but I get the same result with all my HD
movie files.
You can get it at http://www.bigbuckbunny.org/index.php/download/

I use blender for video editing only.
