Well, finally the problem on my PowerPC system was not related with the snowballz package at all and was simply resolved by reinstalling python-pygame (I have no idea what has gone wrong, but anyway). At least it explains why the error message was different. Anyway, this seems harmless and this problem apparently doesn't appears on PowerPC.
