Hi, my 2 cents. I expected the same nvidia building failure (m-a a-i nvidia-kernel-source) with 2.6.29. After hacking linux-kbuild-2.6 (it's currently not available) and installing it I spotted this bug. I saw attached conftest.sh. I copied (overwrote) the one from nvidia-kernel-source.tar.bz2 (writing from memory, actual name may differ). And ran module assistant again. Unfortunately building didn't finish. When I looked at process tree it appeared like "recursive" calls to make.
