I just upgraded to system-tools-backends 2.6.0-5 and this did not fix
this bug for me.

I still get the same error when launching gedit and nautilus from a root
terminal, as when I submitted this bug. Update launcher stangely now
launches without even asking for a password. Time and date settings
settings launches, asks for password, but I can't adjust anything.

When I upgrade system-tools-backends, these packages were also
installed: libpolkit-dbus2 libpolkit2; and this package also upgraded:
gnome-system-tools to 2.22.1-2.

Meanwhile, people at forums.debian.net
(http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?p=218881) still seem to believe
the problem is with gksu and not system-tools-backends. For some users,
upgrading to gksu 2.0.2-1 solved the problem, although that did not work
for me.
