Hello, I'm currently working alongside upstream on getting an updated parrot in to Debian. There's a pkg-parrot project on alioth that's a central point for this that I've recently been added to. Since Florian seems to have abandoned this package for some time now I also plan to take up maintainership of it. Florian, if this isn't Ok, please let me know and we'll work something out.
As for the status of the Package, upstream (Allison Randal) has been hard at work on the packaging for Debian and Ubuntu. Currently there's a few lintian errors, most notably setting rpath in the binary, that need to be addressed prior to upload.
