It doesn't work for me (a Creative Zen, 041e:4157). With mtp-tools 0.2.6.1-3 "mtp-tracks | grep 'Track ID'|wc -l" gives 707. With 0.3.7-1 the command gives me 144 (same as 0.3.6-2).
