Are you in position to temporarily test unofficial backported packages
of 3.2.8:

You can do it by adding the following to your sources.list file:
deb http://pkg-samba.alioth.debian.org/packages lenny-backports main



Another test could be trying packages from unstable. They might
however be harder to install because of their dependency chain (on PAM
packages, particularly)...
