I've never seen this happen. Can you give me some information to help me reproduce it?

1) Did you start it from the command line or from the Applications menu?

2) Were you trying to access a CVS or subversion checkout?

3) Is the repository local to your machine, or remote?

4) If it is remote, do you need to supply a password? If so, check the terminal from which you launched tkcvs - it might be prompting you for a password.
