Package: serendipity
Version: 1.3.1-1
Severity: important

Hi,

So, this is a fresh install of serendipity on a Lenny machine, and
uses postgresql as a backend. After initial install, log in as admin,
change password, set details. Log out, log back as admin. Create user,
fill in details. Hit create. The new user replaces the admin user, and, if
the new user is not an admin, the ability to manage serendipity through
 the web front-end is lost.

I can attest to the fact that nothing new is inserted into the
table s9y_authors when I create a new user; the single record is overwritten.

This is a fairly important bug, but, given the maturity of the package,
it seems extraordinary that a general bug of this magnitude would have remained
undetected so far. I purged and reinstalled, and the same behaviour happened
the second time as well, so I can reproduce this.

I am assuming some combination of the dependencies that are on my system
are triggering this, but I'll be happy to assist in debugging this.

        manoj
